Exactly
one year ago I sold my car and told myself I would only get around on my bicycle.
I wasn't exactly sure what my intentions were but one thing was clear, I needed something new. I was due for a much needed change mentally, as well as physically. So I did the unthinkable : sold my car and stuck to my two wheels to get where I needed to go.
There was obviously a moment of hesitation at first (keeping in mind that school was almost 12 miles away) but the idea of commuting sounded like too much fun. I soon realized that this was a great decision. I didn't miss the stop lights, other drivers, traffic, paying for gas, insurance, and all the other expenses that come with owning a vehicle.
There was also another weight lifted which I was unaware of : I no longer felt rushed to get to where I needed to go. (With enough time) I could truly enjoy myself any distance I had to travel, have it be down the street or to the other side of the valley.
. . . to say the least I feel very liberated, another feeling I was completely oblivious to.
